£6m Premier Inn hotel planned for former scrapyard site in Wrexham

Worthington Properties has submitted plans to Wrexham Council for a new £6m, 83 bedroom Premier Inn Hotel off Mold Road.

"...a valuable boost to the local economy and delivering new jobs to the area in the process" Russell Worthington

If the planning application is successful, work on a 12-month build will begin on site in May. Russell Worthington, director, said: "The site is a former scrapyard, which is ideal for regeneration. The proposed development will bring a heavily contaminated brownfield site back into use, providing a valuable boost to the local economy and delivering new jobs to the area in the process."

Phil Wynn, county councillor for the Brynyffynnon ward of Wrexham Council, said: "The arrival of a budget hotel in the town centre is long overdue and will greatly enhance the visual appeal of a site which has been a Mold Road eyesore for far too long."

Worthington Properties' other hotel projects include the former Boddingtons Brewery in Manchester, which was completed in October 2011, and at the Strand in Liverpool, currently on site.
