The firm has been hailed as "a fine example" by a leading consultant after earning top marks in quality management, environmental protection and occupational health and safety. Industrial management consultant Brian Fenlon, who is currently working with us to meet the revised standards for two of the aforementioned areas, says: "It is a joy to work with the team at Marcus Worthington & Co Ltd. The people there always do things the right way, not because they have to, or because someone maybe looking over their shoulders, but because they believe it is necessary. "When an assessor came to look at the way the company goes about its business he didn’t find a single discrepancy. Normally they find two or three minor non-conformities, but not at Marcus Worthington & Co Ltd." We earned the ISO 9001 (2000) for quality management system standards almost two years ago. Last year, we added the ISO 14001 environmental management standard to confirm the company as an environmentally responsible organisation. We completed the set by adding OHSAS 18001 (1999), which recognises high standards in occupational health and safety management systems. The OHSAS 18001 has now been converted into a British standard, with companies being assessed to that in the next 12 months, while the ISO 9001 is also being revised this year. Mr Fenlon added: "I have been in this business for close on two decades and very few companies have such impeccable standards. To comply with the revised standards there will be some changes necessary, but for this firm it will be a relatively painless operation. "The company has already met the standard in many ways and is a fine role model, not just for the construction industry, but for business in general." |
