Following the arrival of Evans Cycles on Preston’s North Road Retail Park, a new leisure business is set to occupy a unit covering approximately 15,000 sqft.
National leisure business, Pure Gym, will be opening its 90th outlet in December on the popular retail park which has been developed by Worthington Properties, part of the Marcus Worthington Group.
The new gym is currently being fitted out and is expected to be open by late December creating 30 jobs.
Pure Gym was founded by leisure entrepreneur Peter Roberts in September 2008. He conducted extensive research into the leisure sector and identified that gym-goers wanted leisure facilities that were open 24/7, had low monthly fees and didn’t have lengthy contracts.
The fitness chain already has 400,000 members and is forecasting that it will be operating 150 clubs by the end of 2016.
He said: “With the continuing demand for affordable gym membership with no fixed contract, Pure Gym has big expansion plans over the next three years.
“The North Road Retail Park in Preston provided the ideal location situated in a dense residential area complemented by a growing student population. Combined with good transport links it provides a perfect base for the new gym.”
“Pure Gym is an excellent business model and is operated by a highly experienced leisure expert. The gym facility will provide a welcome alternative to the traditional gym model which other operators have in the City and I’m certain it will be a resounding success.” – Simeon Worthington, Director
