Learning to Grow
In its role as a major Lancashire employer, the MarcusWorthington Group is committed to the development and progression of all its employees and regards this as a continuous process throughout their employment.
Over the years, Marcus Worthington Group has forged strong links with many training establishments; these include both Preston College and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN).
Preston College is one of the main providers of the individual training programmes designed for all our apprentices in order to maximise their potential. Each one of our apprentices are assigned a fully experienced and qualified mentor in order to learn the aspects key to their role along with a project that has specific works relating to their training.
The company offers a number of work placements for construction undergraduates at the School of Built and National Environment at Uclan, ranging from year out placements to summer placements. These placements help to enable the students develop the right skills and hands on experience for a career in the construction industry.

Scheduled site visits for both full and part time construction students from Uclan take place periodically in order to enhance their understanding of construction work in progress whilst studying at University.
Marcus Worthington Group provides sponsorship awards each year for the School of Built and Natural Environment's best students. These awards consist of two £250 cheques for the two best final year dissertations and two £100 book vouchers for the two first year students who have completed best overall theory and practice.
In addition, our Ashton Bank housing development is being used as a case study for a new training DVD for Uclan. The Inception to Completion project involves us using both video footage and still photography to help illustrate the entire process involved in building sustainable homes.
By working with both Preston College and Uclan, it helps the company to ensure the continuing development of future generations of both skilled construction professionals and skilled trades' people.
Marcus Worthington Group is always interested in offering placements to any suitable students wishing to work in the construction industry.
